On 11th March 2017, Denisse Franco Pina was crowned as the winner of Nuestra Belleza Mexico 2017. The 18 year old beauty amazed the audience in all the rounds during the finale, as she elegantly carried the evening gown, looking equally classy in the swimsuit round. But one thing that probably didn’t go well with the critics was her Question and Answer round.
The social media did not approve of her victory and started questioning her triumph, mainly because of her answer. During the Question and Answer round of Nuestra Belleza Mexico 2017, Denisse was asked, "At what point does a woman have to raise her voice and say no?", to which Denisse responded, "The moment she wants to say no, she has the power to decide and make her own decisions, thanks.”

Breaking her silence on all the criticism, Denisse said that has been getting a lot of negative remarks on her answer, but she feels that fans often go a little crazy when their favourites don’t win, and this was one such act. She also said, (as translated) “People have called me gross, called me hollow head, but hey, I think interest and intelligence cannot be judged by a question." She decides not to pay much heed to all the negativity and concentrate more on her training.
Right after her crowning, another funny meme was circulated wherein Lupita Jones, who accompanied Kristal Silva to crown Denisse Franco on stage, was seen with a grumpy face. Social media was flooded with the snap, comparing Lupita to Cruela from 101 Dalmatians.
Neustra Belleza Mexico pageant has been held since 1994 and has managed to deliver some fabulous contestants at international level. The pageant organisation works in association with Televisa and is directed by the nation’s first Miss Universe titleholder, Lupita Jones (1991). The organisation has managed to produce one Miss Universe in the year 2010 and two Miss International winners for the year 2007 and 2009.
