Sonia Fergina crowned Puteri Indonesia 2018

Today, Puteri Indonesia found its new queen to guide the Puteri Indonesia 2018 court. Bangka Belitung Sonia Fergina was crowned Puteri Indonesia 2018 and succeeded Puteri Indonesia 2017 Bunga Jelitha Ibrani. Sonia Fergina will now represent Indonesia at the Miss Universe 2017 pageant, to be held later this year, where Miss Universe 2017 Demi Leigh will crown her successor.

Sonia Fergina Citra represented Bangka Belitung at Puteri Indonesia, is 25 years old, and stands tall at 175 cm. She is the youngest of her 6 siblings and loves Muay Thai sport, Taekwondo and Capoeira. She is active in various social causes associated with the organization “Diberi Untuk Memberi.” Sonia helps in providing free food to janitors, school renovation and education assistance, and she is also involved in environmental conservation activities related coral reef adoption at Tanjung Kelayang beach, Belitung. Puteri Indonesia 2018 is a way for her to contribute more in introducing and promoting her resource-rich hometown.

At the gala night of Puteri Indonesia, Banten Vania F Herlambang was crowned Miss International Indonesia 2018 succeeding Miss International Indonesia 2017 Kevin Lilliana, and Kalimantan Barat Wilda Octaviana Situngkir was crowned Miss Supranational Indonesia 2018 succeeding Miss Supranational Indonesia 2017 Karina Nadila.

The event got rolling at the time it had been scheduled at. It opened with the collaboration of Isyana Sarasvati, Rizky Febian, and Lesti D'Academy. After this 39 contestants from 34 provinces of Indonesia took turns introducing themselves to the audience.

The audiences went all out when it came to showing support for their favourites, by hooting every time they came on stage.

the host, Andhika Pratama then introduced the jury for the night. All the nine jury members are prominent figures in Indonesia such as Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Menpora Imam Nahrawi, Head of Bekraf Triawan Munaf, and House Speaker Bambang Soesatyo. Not to forget, Miss Universe 2007 Riyo Mori and Puteri Indonesia 2016 Kezia Warouw also sat in the ranks of the jury to find the next Puteri Indonesia.

In addition to the selection itself, the highlight of the night was also that the three beauty queens of 2017 were also in attendance. Kevin Liliana as Miss Grand International 2017, Jenny Kim as the Miss Supranational 2017 and Miss Universe 2017, Demi-Leigh Nel Peters.
