The Puteri Indonesia organization has officially completed the selection process of delegates for the year 2022. Instead of the previous 39, there will be 45 contestants competing for Puteri Indonesia 2022 title. Each regional group (Sumatra, Java, Lesser Sunda Islands, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Eastern Indonesia) will have one extra representative decided from the highest public vote.

The organization carried out elections in respective provinces and national selections. All 34 provinces have one favorite delegate decided from the highest public vote. The winner then competed against other favorite delegates from their regions to be one of Puteri Indonesia 2022 contestants. Six delegates were elected, who won the voting and officially joined the top 45 delegates.

While the 25th edition of the national pageant was scheduled to be held on 18th March 2022 at the Jakarta Convention Center, the organization has recently postponed the competition as announced in a recent post.

“As the spread of Covid-19 (Omicron) continues to rise and as a preventative measure to protect the wellbeing of our Puteri Indonesia 2022 finalists as well as committee, we hereby inform you that the Pre-Quarantine and Quarantine of Puteri Indonesia 2022 will be held after Hari Raya Idul Fitri 1443 H and we will further announce the updated time and place. Furthermore, while waiting for the above schedule, Yayasan Puteri Indonesia will organize a variety of virtual events including coaching, training, and other activities for the 45 Puteri Indonesia 2022 finalists while still strictly following the Covid-19 health protocols. Thank you for your kind understanding,” the statement read.

Indonesia withdrew its participation from Miss Universe 2021. Thus, the country will participate at Miss Universe 2022 after a gap of one year. At Miss Universe 2020, Ayu Maulida represented Indonesia and placed in Top 21. Indonesia is yet to pioneer its win at Miss Universe.

For this year’s edition, Puteri Indonesia 2020 Raden Roro Ayu Maulida Putri of East Java, Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan 2020 Putu Ayu Saraswati of Bali and Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata 2020 Jihane Almira Chedid of Central Java, will crown their successors at the end of the event.
