Ayu Maulida of Jawa Timur crowned Puteri Indonesia 2020

At the conclusion of the grand coronation night of Puteri Indonesia 2020 held tonight, i.e. 6th March 2020 at the Jakarta Convention Center, Ayu Maulida representing Jawa Timur was crowned the new queen as she became the official representative of Indonesia in Miss Universe 2020. She succeeds and was crowned by Puteri Indonesia 2019 Frederika Alexis Cull and none other than Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi. The finale night was, in fact, a star-studded affair as the three reigning queens, Miss International 2019 Sireethorn Leearamwat and Miss Supranational 2019 Anntonia Porsild along with Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi, were seen together on the stage for the first time.

Ayu Maulida represented Jawa Timur at the national contest and gave a stunning performance. She is 22 years of age and stands 179 cm tall. The stunning beauty also holds the title of 2019 Asia Model Festival and Face of Asia 2019. Being a big name in the fashion world proved to be her advantage as she definitely nailed the catwalk during the competition. She was also fluent and confident in her answers at the finale. She holds a Bachelors in Law from Airlangga University. As for her advocacy, she teaches in rural areas on healthy living and entrepreneurship training. She definitely deserved this win.

Also at the coronation, Putu Ayu Saraswati representing Bali was crowned Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan 2020 (Miss International Indonesia 2020) while Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata 2020 (Miss Supranational Indonesia 2020) went to Jihane Almira representing Central Jawa.

The pageant began with opening numbers where stunning thirty-nine ladies presented themselves to the audience and the esteemed panel of judges. But only eleven beauties made it to the Top 11 cut as the competition was cut throat. The Top 11 included Olivia Leanartha (West Kalimantan), Karina Widjaja (South Sulawesi), Hivanly Salawane Leha (West Papua), Meghna Sharma (North Sumatra), Dianissa Scheherazade Rachman (East Kalimantan), Kalista Iskandar (West Sumatra), Yoan Clara Taken (Maluku), Angel Virginia Boelan (East Nusa Tenggara), Ayu Maulida (East Java), Putu Ayu Saraswati (Bali) and Jihane Almira Chedid (Central Java).

As the finale night moved forward and the contestants put their best foot forward, the Top 11 was then shortened to Top 6 which included Kalista Iskandar (West Sumatra), Yoan Clara Taken (Maluku), Angel Virginia Boelan (East Nusa Tenggara), Ayu Maulida (East Java), Putu Ayu Saraswati (Bali) and Jihane Almira Chedid (Central Java). All these Indonesian beauties definitely proved their worth being the Top with their outstanding performances.

From these Top 6, the esteemed panel of jury chose their Top 3 who went through a gruelling question and answer round and thus the winners to the three international pageants were selected. Before that, a number of special awards were also presented to the delegates as Rachel Eleeza Coloay representing North Kalimantan was awarded Puteri Indonesia Persahabatan (Miss Congeniality). Jeanatasia Kurnia Sari Soebagio of West Java, Fernanda Ciandra Mabok of Central Sulawesi and Desiree Magdalena Roring of North Sulawesi were awarded with Puteri Indonesia Intelegensia (Miss Intelligence) award.

The Talent competition and the National Costume competition were held during the preliminary events where three finalists for each award were selected. At the coronation night the winners were announced where Jeanatasia Kurnia Sari Soebagio of West Java won Best in Talent award while Raden Roro Ayu Maulida Putri of East Java won the Best in National Costume award.

From each island province, one winner was also selected which were chosen through votes –

Puteri Indonesia Jawa –  Hillary Masrin representing Jakarta SCR 5

Puteri Indonesia Nusa-Bali – Putu Ayu Saraswati representing Bali

Puteri Indonesia Kalimantan – Amelia Nurmawati Edmil representing Central Kalimantan

Puteri Indonesia Sulawesi – Desiree Magdalena Roring representing North Sulawesi

Puteri Indonesia Timur – Kathy Monica Kabe representing North Maluku
