Sonia Fergina Citra was crowned Puteri Indonesia Bangka Belitung 2018 on 16th January 2018. She will now represent Bangka Belitung province in Puteri Indonesia 2018 where the winner will be crowned to represent Indonesia in Miss Universe 2018. She bested eighteen other participants to clinch the title of Puteri Indonesia Bangka Belitung 2018. She was crowned by Puteri Indonesia Babel 2017, Nadia Dwi Rahmadani.
Sonia is the youngest of her 6 siblings and loves Muay Thai sport, Taekwondo and Capoeira. She is active in various social causes associated with the organization “Diberi Untuk Memberi.” Sonia helps in providing free food to janitors, school renovation and education assistance, and she is also involved in environmental conservation activities related coral reef adoption at Tanjung Kelayang beach, Belitung. Puteri Indonesia 2018 is a way for her to contribute more in introducing and promoting her resource-rich hometown.
After her win, she shared her feelings, “Allow yourself to be a beginner. Learn a lot of things cause no one starts off being excellent.”
Other than Sonia Fergina Citra from Bangka Belitung, Flower Rizky from Sumatera Utara province and Yuliana Fonataba from Papua province have also been crowned for Puteri Indonesia 2018.
