Yuliana Pitornela Fonataba (Yuli) was crowned Puteri Indonesia Papua 2017 to represent Papua province in Puteri Indonesia 2018. The crowned winner of Puteri Indonesia 2018 will represent Indonesia in Miss Universe 2018. She bested 17 contestants to clinch the title of Puteri Indonesia Papua 2017. She succeeds and was crowned by Fredrika Mitra Mumua Puteri Indonesia Papua 2016.
Yuliana is 21 years of age and is an only child who since childhood has a shy and closed nature. She is a final year student at the University of Atma Jaya Yogyakarta majoring in Civil Engineering International program. In addition to being a student, Yuli is also active in modelling. She is also been elected as Ambassador of ASEAN Indonesia Papua 2017. According to her through ASEAN forum, she can exchange ideas and meet with other youth from all over.
She loves to help serve street children, drop-out students, and HIV sufferers along with her mother who is a servant of God/ spiritual activist in Papua. Yuli also plans to conduct advocacy activities in empowering women and children in Papua in the form of self-development and soft skills.
Being Puteri Indonesia has been her wish for a long time. Yuli is inspired by the winners of Puteri Indonesia who are able to introduce the name of Indonesia in the international beauty contest. She thinks that a winner of Puteri Indonesia is not only beautiful but is also able to introduce Indonesian culture that is accompanied by intellectual intelligence and friendliness of Indonesian women. That's what inspired her to join Puteri Indonesia 2018.
On her win, she was delighted and expressed, “Praise the Lord Jesus Christ for all for his grace. Big thanks to my beautiful and humble Dea Rizkita because the input you gave was always useful and certainly Puteri Indonesia organization who has entrusted me as the face of Papua. Still can’t believe but the journey is still long and there are still plenty to be preparations to be done.”
Other than Yuliana Pitornela Fonataba from Papua, Flower Rizky from Sumatera Utara province and Sonia Fergina Citra from Bangka Belitung province have also been crowned for Puteri Indonesia 2018.
