The most awaited finale of Miss Intercontinental 2016 concluded on 16th October with the crowning of Puerto Rican beauty Heilymar Rosario Velazquez. Tracy Ann de Zilva of Sri Lanka was titled the first runner-up, Vera Safoah of Ghana was adjudged the second runner-up, Floriana Russo of Italy was titled the third runner-up and Amal Karina Nemer finished as the fourth runner-up.
The finale was a grand night of celebration with contestants from different continents competing to clinch the coveted title. From magnificent celebrity performances to the finalists sashaying the runway in different preliminary segments, the gala night was something to remember. Competing through various segments, including Swimsuit and Evening Gown, only five girls from five different continents could make it to the final circle - Miss Puerto Rico - Heilymar Rosario Velazquez; Miss Venezuela - Karina Amal Nemer Erched; Miss Italy - Floriana Russo; Miss Sri Lanka - Tracy Ann De Zilva and Miss Ghana - Vera Safoah.
Although Heilymar Rosario won the coveted title of Miss Intercontinental 2016, the journey towards it wasn’t easy and each of the finalists gave a tough fight. Q 1 - What are the sacrifices you have made for this pageant?
A – Good evening ladies and gentleman!! Okay, I had to lose my school friends for everything that ensures to be here in this pageant, that replies my question and that’s I would say is the greatest sacrifice I’ve ever made.

Q 4- If there is one thing you could do to change the world, what will it be?
A - Good evening ladies and gentleman, the esteemed judges and the whole Sri Lanka watching. Firstly, I would like to start my sentence that there is nothing that I would like to change about this world as it is perfect as it is, beautiful the way it is due to amazing people that we’ve, different cultures that we’ve in our country and the best part is Sri Lanka and all over the world we’ve amazing in our heart. So, I would like to change nothing about this world.

Q – What is the essence of a woman?
A- Hello, good evening everyone. I will try to give my answer in English but I am not perfect in it. I think the essence of the woman is the fact that women can multi-function. I will thank God for making me a woman; it’s an award to be a woman. For me the woman have the blessing to pour a child, to have a life in her. A woman can hold a house. Being a woman is amazing, you can do as many things, I don’t know.

Q – 5 – What you think is the greatest environmental problem today?
A – Good evening, I think that one of the most fatal environmental problems that you’ve is the contamination, the pollution we make. I think that we need to deal with it because God created one of the most important things that we’ve in our life and we need to deal with that. Thank you.
