Rajkanya Baruah has been crowned Miss India Kolkata 2016 at the regional finals of the pageant held recently. Rajkanya Baruah hailing from Guwahati, Assam is an HR professional. Winning this coveted title gives her a clear way to the final list of Femina Miss India 2016, where the main winner shall go to the Miss World 2016 pageant.

Rajkanya Baruah also won Miss Body Beautiful which is considered as one of the most important sub-titles. She is the first ever Assamese girl to win this title. She was crowned by Koel Mallick.

Rajkanya is not new to pageantry. She has previously held the position of the finalist for Kingfisher Calendar Girl 2012, Top 7 – Dabur Gulabari Sananda Tillotama 2010, 2nd runner up - Eclectic Model Hunt 2010, 2nd runner up – Dabur Gulabari Fresh Face of North-East 2010. She has completed her MBA in Marketing and International Business and is currently serving as an HR in a famous Hospital chain.

The beauty queen believes in the saying:  “To shine like the sun, you have to burn like one!” and “Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional!”

Rajkanya says: “When your hard work gets rewarded, that feeling is unmatched to any other. It gives me a lot of happiness”.

The beauty queen is very particular about her health and makes sure to work towards keeping herself fit and in shape: “My body to me means a gift from the Almighty and hence it is my duty to protect it, nurture it well and to keep it healthy”.

When she was asked with which celebrity would she like to go on a vacation? She replied: “Terence Lewis! He’s a close friend and it’s fun being around him. What could be better than enjoying a vacation with a friend, rather than with a complete stranger!”
