Miss Heart of Florida Sara Zeng, 22, of Palm Coast won the Miss Florida 2017 title held at the Youkey Theatre during the 82nd annual Miss Florida Pageant.
She will now represent her state at the Miss America 2018 to be held in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on September 10, 2017. The event will be broadcast by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). Miss America 2017 from Arkansas, Savvy Shields will officially crown her successor.
The crowning moment followed three days of preliminary competitions that was also held in the Youkey Theatre, at which 46 contestants’ aged between 17 to 24 were judged on the basis of fitness and talent, along with an evening wear and on-stage questions which they were asked and private interviews with the judges.
Saturday evening, the pageant started with the announcement of the 11 finalists, who again competed in talent, evening wear and question-answer session.
Zeng had performed a Chopin medley on piano and ran on a platform of music matters. Judges said, Zeng stunned the crowd with her piano skills and white gown.
In addition to her crown, Zeng received a sash and bouquet of roses and will receive a $20,000 as scholarship.
