Jillian Zucco crowned as Miss Massachusetts 2017 for Miss America 2018

Zucco was named as Miss Massachusetts at the conclusion of the two-night 78th annual Miss Massachusetts Scholarship Pageant, held at the Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts in Worcester. Zucco graduated from Old Rochester Regional High School in 2011 and from the UMass Dartmouth Nursing Program in 2016.

She will now represent her state at the Miss America 2018 to be held in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on September10, 2017. The event will be broadcast by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). Miss America 2017 from Arkansas, Savvy Shields will officially crown her successor.

The 24-year-old Zucco’s talent was vocal and her platform was Choose a Cause, Make a Difference. She is the daughter of Kelly and John Zucco of Mattapoisett.

In addition to her $12,000 award, Zucco received a $350 scholarship as a Preliminary Talent Winner and was also the winner of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Miracle Maker Award and received an additional $250 scholarship. She raised more than $5,000 this year for CMNH/Boston Children’s Hospital and since the year 2013 she has raised nearly $25,000 for CMNH.

She will also receive gifts and services from numerous pageant sponsors from across the state as part of her prize package. The rest of the semi-finalists received a $400 scholarship.
