Sharifa Akeel crowned Mutya Ng Pilipinas 2018

The grand coronation night of the 50th anniversary edition of the Mutya ng Pilipinas beauty pageant, Mutya ng Pilipinas 2018, was held tonight at the SM Mall of Asia Arena with 50 beauties competing to win the privilege to represent the Philippines in four international beauty pageants - Miss Asia Pacific International 2018, Miss Tourism International 2018, Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International and Miss Global Beauty Queen 2018. Selection of 50 finalists to compete in the finale this year was done to mark the 50th anniversary of the pageant.

At the conclusion of the finale, Sharifa Akeel was crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas 2018 by her predecessor Mutya ng Pilipinas 2017 Ilene Astrid de Vera. Sharifa will now represent the Philippines in Miss Asia Pacific International 2018 which will also be held in the Philippines on 4th October 2018. Last year, Ilene reached the Top 5 spot in the finale of Miss Asia Pacific International 2017, and the fans are expecting a win for Sharifa this year in the international pageant.

Rounding up the winners’ circle this year were first runner-up Mary Justine Teng and second runner-up Kristine Micah Malicsi.

Other contestants who made it to Top 12 finalists were Agatha Lei Romero, Jade Roberts, Nina Ancheta, Anie Uson, Ebony Bangit, and Maria Fe Loayon, while the remaining contestants who made it to Top 25 finalists were Rein Hillary Carrascal, Sabrina-Merlina Binder, Odessa de la Cuesta, Honey Grace Cartasano, Nikka Marie Cristina Castro, Harmony Mayson, Allison Lorenzo, Arianne Deseree Viardo, Maraeileise Perkins, Jeserey Sanchez, Bettina Eleanor Dingemans, Geri Franchesca Camargo and Anna Clarice Patrimonio.

Several special awards have also been awarded to the contestants during the course of the pageant, and the winners of some major awards are –

Best in Talent - Mayuko Hanawa
