Tamia Hardy crowned as Miss West Virginia 2017 for Miss America 2018

A Martinsburg woman, Tamia Hardy has been named as Miss West Virginia on Saturday night at the Apollo Civic Theatre.

She will now represent her state at the Miss America 2018 to be held in Atlantic City, New Jersy, on September10, 2017. The event will be broadcast by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). Miss America 2017 and Miss Arkansas 2016, Savvy Shields, will officially crown her successor.
 
Tamia Hardy, 22, defeated four other contestants to win the crown. Her platform was "Bystander Intervention," and she performed a contemporary dance during the talent portion of the pageant.
 
She is pursuing a Masters in Business Administration at Shepherd University. The 2017 Miss West Virginia Scholarship Pageant is a three night competition which culminates in the crowning of Miss West Virginia and Miss West Virginia’s Outstanding Teen.  The event features the most beautiful and talented young women from across the Mountain State.
