Columnist and popular TV host Tim Yap has been bashed for his insensitive comments on the candidates of the Binibining Pilipinas 2017 beauty pageant. He got criticized for his tweets by the Internet users all over, and later on the man apologized as well. When everyone was glued to their television sets, Tim expressed his insensitive opinions which later on provoked ire of people.

The buzz started when he tweeted “Some of the girls don’t look like they come from the provinces they represent.” “So many of the candidates look like MochaUson don't you think?” It automatically set off an outbreak as angered Internet users tried to figure out what he meant:
“Hello, @officialTIMYAP! Instead of bashing these lovely women, why not talk abt how we can empower other women too? Hater, much?”
“@officialTIMYAP Are you stereotyping people by their looks?” and what not.
After noticing the tweets of the people, he deleted his comment instantly. He apologized to those who were a bit offended by his remarks, and tweeted…

He explained later that he was not criticizing the candidates.
The gala finale of Binibining Pilipinas 2017, held on 30th April 2017, concluded with the crowning of Binibini 19 Rachel Louise Peters as the winner. Rachel succeeds Bb Pilipinas 2016 Maxine Medina, and will now represent the country at the Miss Universe 2017 pageant.
Tim was one of the many citizens who congratulated Rachel on her win saying, “well-deserved.”
