The Top Model of the World organization has recently introduced the official delegate of Sri Lanka for the upcoming edition of the international pageant. The country will be represented by Diwanga Perera.

Diwanga is a student of fashion design at AMDT School of Creativity. Standing 175 cm tall, Perera is a professional model and works with Brian Kerkoven Agency. She is diligent, creative and actively partakes in fashion shows.

The 21-year-old is bold and doesn’t shy away from being real on her social media handle. In a post, the queen mentioned, “modeling is not easy job, hard part of becoming a model is learning to let go. You must let go of all your social fears, because, well, you're in front of a camera. You're acting in front of a camera. When a subject is under pressure, uncomfortable, or under a lot of mental stress, it shows through the picture.”

“Though it is true that modeling is probably one of the more easier professions as far as what their work actually requires (smiling and posing for pictures), there are some physically demanding things their jobs require them to do. In addition, the psychological effects modeling has on a person can be huge,” she further added.

The competition, which debuted in 1993 in Miami, is a dream opportunity for models all around the world. Diwanga also wants to utilize this opportunity to grow as a model by representing Sri Lanka at the 28th edition of Top Model of the World.

The participants will be seen in swimsuits and evening dresses for different segments of the competition this year. The grand finale of Top Model of the World 2021 is scheduled to take place on 11th March 2022 at Tanoak Resort in Ain Sukhna, an hour away from Cairo where the winner will succeed Top Model of the World 2020 Pierinna Patiño of Peru for the title.
