Venezuela has always brought out the best of the best to compete in international beauty pageants and this year was no different. The nation has won the Miss Universe crown 7 times since the commencement of the prestigious pageant, the Miss World crown 6 times, Miss Earth 2018 title 2 times, in the years 2005 and 2013 and Miss International crown 8 times including this year.
In all of the international and coveted pageants mentioned below, Venezuela has managed to stay as one of the finalists, and while the nation in a year to win the Miss Grand International crown and Miss Supranational crown, it won’t be long before they anoint their name in that list as well.
But before that happens, let us take a look at how Venezuela performed in the major international beauty pageants this year -
Miss Universe Venezuela 2018 Sthefany Gutiérrez
Upon being crowned Miss Venezuela 2017, Sthefany earned the right to officially represented her nation in Miss Universe 2018 which was held on 17th December 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand. It is safe to say that she performed spectacularly well during the finale as the 19-year-old Venezuelan diva was awarded the position of 2nd runner-up to Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray. There was no doubt that Sthefany would perform well. The 175 cm tall law student was also one of Angelopedia’s favourites for the crown this year and she did make her nation very proud during the finale.
Miss World Venezuela 2018 Veruska Betania Ljubisavljevic
Veruska was the official representative of Venezuela in Miss World 2018. She is 27 years of age and a model and pastry chef by profession. The 177 cm tall beauty graduated as an Advertising technician and is currently working as a TV presenter. Her representation in Miss World this year, held on 8th December 2018 in Sanya, China, went exceptionally well. During the preliminary round, Veruska won the Head to head Challenge in Round 1 and Round 2 and was also one of the Top 10 in the Miss Multimedia award. She was able to secure a position in the Top 30 during the finale.
Miss Earth Venezuela 2018 Diana Carolina Silva Francisco
Diana was crowned Miss Earth Venezuela 2018 and therefore earned the right to represent Venezuela in Miss Earth 2018. The 20-year-old diva was already one of the crowd favourites and was also included in Angelopedia’s Top 20 favourite contestants for the Miss Earth 2018 crown. Since Diana was experienced in the pageant world, it was not very difficult for her to make a mark in the finale, but even then, her hardworking and dedication paid off and she was placed as one of the Top 8 finalists during the finale of Miss Earth 2018 held on 3rd November 2018 in the Philippines. Diana also won gold medals in Swimsuit Competition and Resort Wear Competition while representing the Fire Group.
Miss International 2018 Mariem Claret Velazco García
When Mariem was crowned Miss International Venezuela 2017, little did she know that she would go on to become an international queen the next year! At just 19 years of age, Mariem managed to defeat 76 other delegates and win the crown of Miss International 2018. Standing tall at a height of 180 cm, Mariem had double the celebrations because 9th November 2018 was not only the day when she won such a coveted and prestigious pageant, it was also the day she celebrated her 19th birthday. Upon winning, she said that this was one of the best birthday wishes she could ever ask for.
Miss Grand Venezuela 2018 Biliannis Álvarez
Biliannis was one of the most favourite delegates for the Miss Grand International 2018 crown, she was also no stranger to the pageant world as she was the first runner-up in Miss Venezuela 2017, which actually earned her the title of Miss Grand Venezuela 2018 and the right to represent her nation in the coveted international pageant. Biliannis gave a really spectacular performance during the finale of Miss Grand International 2018 as she was one of the Top 10 finalists and did her nation proud. She is 19 year of age, stands tall at a weight of 179 cm.
Miss Supranational Venezuela 2018 Nariman Battikha Yanyi
Nariman was a special delegate in the Miss Supranational pageant this year as she was already a reigning international queen. The 22-year-old was crowned Reina Hispanoamericana 2018 on 4th November 2018 and then she went on to represent Venezuela in Miss Supranational 2018 which was held on 7th December 2018 in Poland. Standing tall at a height of 177 cm, Nariman performed extremely well during the finale of Miss Supranational 2018 and was placed amongst the Top 10 finalists. She was already one of Angelopedia’s Top 10 delegates for the coveted crown.
