At the conclusion of the finale of Miss Universe Hungary 2016 held on 20th November 2016 Veronika Bódizs was crowned as the winner. Veronika succeeds Miss Universe Hungary 2015 Nikoletta Nagy, and will now represent Hungary at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant.

Hailing from Budapest, 24 years old Veronika hopes to get crowned as the next Miss Universe by Pia Wurtzbach, the finals of which are scheduled to be held on 30th January 2017. Veronika is a student at International Business School of Budapest, Hungary. At the same pageant, Kozma Claudia was titled as the first runner-up, and Bertók Fruzsina Gina was adjudged the second runner-up.
Since 1992, the Miss Universe Hungary pageant has been sending representatives to the Miss Universe pageant. Miss Universe Hungary is the national beauty pageant of the country to select one of the most beautiful women of the country to be an envoy at the Miss Universe pageant.
Hungary has not yet won a Miss Universe crown, and has managed to place only thrice at the pageant. In 2006 Hungary made it to the Top 20 finalists, in 2008 it reached the Top 15 slot and in 2012 the country made it as far as Top 10 finalists.
