The Welcome Ceremony of Miss World 2015 was nothing short of splendid and grand. The ceremony was more like a carnival that featured a spectacular parade of nations and a welcome dinner for all the contestants. It was a glamorous night of dancing to EDM music and lots of fun.

For the contestants, it was like a majestic experience as they were presented to the public, the international media, and Sanya’s top dignitaries for the first time. The Welcome Ceremony commenced with the parade of nations, where the delegates adorned necklaces made of orchids. The delegates paraded through the Beauty Crown Grand Hotel’s Great Hall and represented their countries to hundreds of onlookers, press, and VIP’s.

The Vip guests who graced the ceremony were Vice Executive Mayor of Sanya Yue Jing, Vice Mayor Madame Xu Zhen Ling and Vice Mayor Mister Wu Peng. The guests posed for photographs with the contestants and everybody looked all happy and excited. After the gala parade, the contestants then took off to an incredible dinner in the Beauty Crown Grand Hotel’s stunning Moringa Ballroom. The girls mingled with their fellow contestants and fans and enjoyed the finest cuisine. “Today all the contestants got to really interact with one another and got to know each other’s cultures and backgrounds which is such a divine and once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thank you Miss World organization”, said Miss Nepal.

The welcome dinner was graced by the reigning Miss World Rolene Strauss from South Africa. She even gave a heart warming and moving speech during the dinner, talking about her journey and described her love of Sanya and her most valuable lesson learnt during her tenure as Miss World. Rolene also shared her nervousness and said, “I remember the first time Megan Young, Miss World 2013, spoke to the contestants and seeing how amazing it was and I only hope mine can be as good as hers!”

Not just Rolene, but also the delegates from China PR, United States, New Zealand, Botswana, France, and Jamaica spoke of their pride for their continents and their motivations for entering the Miss World family and becoming part of ‘Beauty with a Purpose’. As a gift, the contestants were also given the opportunity to immortalize their handprints in gold ceramic. The event concluded with a breathtaking fireworks display that was arranged in honour of all of the contestants.
