Miss Universe 2018 witnessed stellar performances from the delegates all over the world as the finale was held on 17th December 2018 in Thailand. While Catriona Gray of Philippines took home the crown that year, being a favourite ever since the beginning of the competition, there was one more diva who was a front-runner for the crown but much to the surprise, did not even make it to Top 20.
Yulia Polyachikhina from Russia was a crowd’s favourite ever since the beginning of the competition. At a ripe age of 18, she represented her country with sincerity and pride and made her own way in the competition. Standing a whopping 177 cm tall, Iuliia walked with elegance and grace towards her path to success.
But, unfortunately, at the finale night she failed to even advance to Top 20. This was a huge shock for the audience as well because of the undying support she received and with all her preparations for the competition. Her evening gown also received high praises, being compared to none other than Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.
The stunning Russian beauty definitely deserved a higher placement in the competition but unfortunately lost her spot due to the continental divide which made Poland’s Magdalena Swat, Ireland’s Grainne Gallanagh, Hungary’s Eniko Kecskes, Britain’s Dee-Ann Rogers and Belgium’s Zoe Brunet advance to the Top 20 leaving her behind from the Europe delegates.
Today, Yulia Polyachikhina works successfully as a model and has made a name for herself in the fashion industry. To achieve this huge feat has not been a smooth road but Iuliia has definitely paved her way with a strong foot forward. In our opinion, she sure is a true epitome of a woman of substance.
