Newly crowned Miss Colombia 2017 Laura Gonzalz is gaining much popularity for her beauty and grace. She awed the judges at the finals with her charm and her impressive answer. But, will you believe if we tell you that this stunner was once a chubby girl, who was bullied during her school days? No, right? That is in fact true; years ago she was labelled as the "chubby girl of the class" and suffered bullying.

She revealed that she was the chubbiest girl in school, but that only made her strong. Although today she is all toned and slim, she feels that she is still the chubby girl inside. But, this was all in the past, and today she is stronger than ever. Today, Laura is confident enough to clinch the coveted Miss Universe title.

During the finals of Miss Colombia 2017, her answer to the question on what she thinks is the role of this generation in bringing the changes related to equality at all levels, was the one that led her to winning the contest. Laura responded in all sincerity that she feels "very proud" that her generation is making big changes for the environment, and working in sync for the rights of women. Laura was crowned Miss Colombia 2017, not only for being a pretty face, also for her great heart.

Miss Colombia 2017 pageant plagued a controversy during the announcement of the Top 3 finalists. During the finals, Miss Bogotá Vanessa Dominguez Field could barely control her rage when she lost to Miss Antioquia Vanessa Pulgarin Monsalve as one of the top 3 finalists. The camera captured Dominguez face as the host announced the result, and Dominguez was seen looking down disappointed. Instead of graciously congratulating her competitor, she was seen in a barely repressed fury. After several seconds of petulant pouting she eventually manages to compose herself to give Miss Antioquia a lukewarm hug.

Internet users found Miss Bogotá’s reaction hilarious and started circulating memes recalling the awkward moment. One post featured her face with “I hate you all” emblazoned on the picture. Her livid look was also compared to Lisa Simpson in a bad mood, a reproachful looking dog with the caption: “The face of the Miss Bogotá”, and a scowling old lady.
