The 65th edition of Miss Universe pageant has concluded, and with it all the major international pageants for the year 2016 have come to an end. With the beginning of 2017, the countries are now starting their search for their next representative, who will fight the battle for 2017 international pageants.

Philippines is starting it search for the next Binibining Pilipinas winner, and after Pia Wurtzbach shared her views on how Filipino actress Liza Soberano can be the next bet for the country, there is this another actress whose appearance at the press conference of “Moonlight Over Baler,” prompted many to believe that she is a beauty queen material. Sophie Albert, who is a famous TV actress in Philippines, is being called a perfect beauty pageant material.

However, just like Liza, Sophie also said that she is not quite ready to be a beauty pageant person. “Actually, I’m really flattered when people ask me that question. Honestly, I really don’t feel confident enough to be a beauty queen. I look up to all of the beauty queens but I don’t really believe that I am the type,” Sophie recently told InterAksyon during the press conference.

The Binibining Pilipinas is now calling all the beautiful and qualified Filipinas to submit their applications. The announcement was made on the Official Facebook page of Binibining Pilipinas. The deadline for the submission of application is on February 24th 2017 at 6pm. Girls between the age group of 17-26 can apply, and the applicants must at least be a high school graduate.

The pageant was intended as a prestigious fund-raising activity for projects to benefit orphans, poor families and other less fortunate members of Philippine society. The Philippines, through BPCI, has produced the country’s best beauties. It offered Philippines with three Miss Universe winners - Gloria Diaz in 1969, Margarita Moran in 1973 and Pia Wurtzbach in 2015, five Miss International winners - Aurora Pijuan in 1970, Melanie Marquez in 1979, Lara Quigaman in 2005, Bea Santiago in 2013 and Kylie Verzosa in 2016, and one Miss Supranational winner, Mutya Datul Miss Supranational in 2013.
