After a night of lively competition, Miss Southeast Georgia Alyssa Beasley was crowned as Miss Georgia 2017 at River Center for the Performing Arts in the 73rd Annual Miss Georgia Pageant.

She will further represent her state at the Miss America 2018 competition, to be held in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on September10, 2017. The finale will be broadcast by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). Miss America 2017 Savvy Shields from Arkansas will officially crown her successor.

Beasley will receive $17,500 in scholarship awards. She also won the overall swimsuit, talent and evening wear awards as well as two preliminary awards earlier in the week.

It was the second time Beasley competed in the Miss Georgia pageant, after competing in Miss Golden Isles 2016; and finished as second runner-up. Beasley won the talent competition that year as well as dancing competition.

This year, she won the talent competition with a lyrical dance performed to the song “When Your Feet Don’t Touch the Ground.”

“I am nervous, but also very excited and I have worked very hard for this, it is such an honor to be able to represent my state,’’ Beasley said after the ceremony.
