Anea Garcia, who was dethroned as the Miss Grand International 2015, came out in support of Miss Iceland Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir. According to Arna, she was body shamed by the MGI owner and was called fat. She shared with the media that she was asked to lose weight for the finale, and that was when she decided to quit the pageant.
Coming out in support of Arna out and loud, Anea, after months of her dethronement, talked about the mistreatment she had to face during her reign. According to her, The MGI Organisation constantly pointed out and talked out about her imperfection. Anea went ahead to extend her support to Arna and thanked her for standing up against a pageant that doesn’t accept, respect or understand diversity.
“You are such a beautiful soul that it breaks my heart to hear that anyone would try to bring you down”, said Anea supporting Miss Iceland. Anea quite vocally expressed her views on her instagram post and said that she appreciates her courage to stand up against what is wrong.
The question however is, if Anea was criticized by the MGI Organisation, then why did she still continue to compete through it, and the most surprising part was that she was even crowned as the winner despite of all the criticisms. That is something to think upon. What is your opinion?
