Miss Earth 2016 beauty pageant delegates from Serbia, Ecuador, Wales, South Africa, and Philippines visited the largest solar farms in Philippines, situated at Calatagan in the Batangas district. They enjoyed a thrilling ride on a chopper that took them to their destination within minutes.

The delegates, Miss Serbia Teodora Jankovic, Miss Ecuador Katherine Elizabeth Espín, Miss Wales Charlotte Hitchman, Miss South Africa Nozipho Magagula, and Miss Philippines Imelda Schweighart, were welcomed heartily by the farm officials, who explained how the farms help in bringing about a change for good.

The farms are the largest solar facility in the country, spread across 160 hectares and located at Calatagan region of the Batangas. The facility, which has 80 MW of total solar power capacity, generates heat from the sun, provides power to the western part of the Batangas province of Philippines.

This year, the 16th edition of the Miss Earth annual international beauty pageant is following the theme "Empowered to make a Change."It aims at spreading the message of the 5 Rs- ‘Rethink, Reuse, Reduce, Recycle, & Respect’ and encourage people to carry forward the message of Restoration and Reforestation.

The grand finale of the most renowned pageant, Miss Earth 2016, is scheduled to be held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City of Philippines, on October 29. Who do you think can be a true representative of this Mother Earth?
