The ongoing global pandemic has served as a bummer for pageant fanatics multiple times but the organizations all around the world as well as the delegates competing for international beauty titles have never settle and continued to serve the best to the community even during the tough times, be it virtually or by organizing competitions with proper measures. The countries have been presenting their best delegates on the international stages and based on their performances over the past few years, Vietnam has great potential to become a powerhouse in the world of beauty pageants.
Vietnam's shining moment came in 2018 when Nguyen Phuong Khánh won the Miss Earth crown, the first Vietnamese to win a major beauty pageant title. In the same year, H'Hen Niê broke barriers and ended Vietnam's dry spell in the Miss Universe pageant with a historical Top 5 placement.
In the year 2019, Hoàng Thi Thùy placed Vietnam in the Top 20 of Miss Universe, Luong Thùy Linh placed the country in Top 12 at Miss World whereas Nguyen Tuang San was among the Top 8 at the Miss International pageant, making it undoubtedly the most successful year in the pageantry.
In the very recent years, for the session 2020-2021, Vietnam’s biggest achievement was the win at Miss Grand International 2021, where Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tieng won the first ever grand title for the country. Later, in Miss Universe 2020 pageant, Vietnam finished among the Top 21 finalists under the delegation of Nguyen Tran Khánh Vân and in the recently concluded Miss Universe 2021 pageant, Vietnam finished among the Top 16 finalists under the delegation of Nguyen Huynh Kim Duyen, who won the Miss Popular Vote award and made it to the cut.
In the last decade, Vietnam has definitely risen as a strong contender in the pageant world. In Miss International 2015, Pham Hong Thúy Vân finished third runner-up, while Tran Ngoc Lan Khuê's Miss World Top 11 finish in the same year was the country's best placement so far. Daniela Nguyenova also placed third runner-up in Miss Supranational 2011.
For the New Year and the session of 2021-2022, the country has already begun to continue their streak as Vu Huyen Dieu of Vietnam was recently crowned Miss Eco Teen International 2021 whereas Hoang Thi Huong Ly was also awarded as Miss Tourism Metropolitan International 2021/2022, a few days ago.
The slow but steady incline in the performance of the country is definitely a turning point in their position among the top achieving countries in the industry. For the upcoming Miss World 2021 pageant, which has been postponed temporarily due to the Covid outbreak, Do Thi Ha is representing Vietnam and has been exceptionally well on her part since the beginning of the journey. The diva has definitely emerged as a strong contender who can secure a top position for the country at the pageant.
