Femina Miss India 2016 (Miss India World 2016) has kick-started today with the announcement of twenty-one finalists, who will now compete for the coveted title of Miss World India 2016. The finalists were announced after the final round of auditions that took place at Sahara Star Hotel, Mumbai.
Prior to the final round of auditions, Miss India conducted three state-level contests and the winner of each such pageant automatically became the finalist of Miss India 2016. Miss India Bangalore 2016 - Roshmitha Harimurthy, Miss India Delhi 2016 - Priyadarshini Chatterjee and Miss India Kolkata 2016 - Rajkanya Baruah were the three early finalists of Miss India 2016.
Pankhuri Gidwani, who was adjudged the winner of Campus Princess (Season 1) became the fourth confirmed finalist of Miss India 2016. Thereafter, Sanjana GL, who was also the second runner up of Miss India Bangalore 2016, became the winner of wild card entry, thereby becoming the fifth finalist of Miss India 2016.
The grand finale of Miss India 2016 will take place on April 9' 2016, when the reigning queens Aditi Arya (Miss World India 2015), Aafreen Vaz (Miss Supranational India 2015) and Vartika Singh (Miss Grand India 2015) will crown their respective successors.
While Aditi Arya could not make it to the semifinals of Miss World 2015, Vartika Singh was adjudged the second runner-up at Miss Grand International 2015 and Aafreen Vaz was amongst the Top 10 finalists in Miss Supranational 2015 and was also awarded with the title of Miss Supranational Asia Oceania 2015.
