Miss Earth Beauty Pageant is growing fast to be one of the major pageants among the Big 4 pageants. First and primarily, the concept and focus of the pageant is different from that of the other international pageants. Miss Earth beauty pageant deals with climatic changes and various other issues related to the environment.

Not just the reigning queen Katherine Espin, but also the contestants and former winners are still dedicatedly working as part of the pageant, for the environment, as one of the Earth Warriors. The Miss Philippines Earth queens recently visited the “Booming City by the Bay" Bislig City. The beauties included, Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell, Miss Philippines Water 2015 CJ Marin, Miss Philippines Earth 2016 runner-up Bellatrix Tan, Miss Philippines Eco- tourism 2016 Charinna Barro, Miss Philippines Fire 2016 Tim Alsowyed, Miss Philippines Water 2016 Melanie Mader, Miss Philippines Air 2016 Shannon Bridgman and Miss Philippines Earth 2016 Loren Mar Artejos.

Former Miss Philippines Earth on Environmental Mission

 

Bislig City is at the eastern seaboard of Mindanao. Bislig proclaim as one of the major city of Surigao del Sur. And since Bislig is abundant of waterfalls and beaches, it is undeniably for the city to be called as the “City by the Bay”.

The beauties explored the various tourist attraction that the city had to offer, not only to experience the culture of Bislig but also to participate in various environmental activities, promote eco-tourism and do school tours. The beauty queens visited the Tinuy-an Fall.  Tinuy-an Fall is a three tier cascading waterfall (with a fourth tier hidden from view). It is Bisligs number one tourist attraction. Its magnificent cascades are found in Borboanan, a one hour ride from Mangagoy, the center of trade and commerce in Bislig City. About 55 meters high and a breathtaking width of 95 meters, often called the Niagara Falls of the Philippines, it is said to be the widest falls in the Philippines.
