Haley Sowers, the reigning Miss Lauderdale USA, was crowned Miss Mississippi USA 2016 at the conclusion of the state pageant, held on October 31’, 2015 at the Golden Strike Casino Resort in Tunica. She succeeded Miss Mississippi USA 2015 Courtney Byrd. She will represent Mississippi at the next edition of Miss USA, to be held in July 2016 in United States.
At the same event, April Mayfield from Vicksburg was adjudged the first runner-up, Jayce Henry from Pine Belt titled as the second runner up, while Chandler Short, who is from Heart of Dixie, was named as the third runner up and Olivia Haskins from Pike County finished as the fourth runner up.
Previously, he has also competed at the 2010 Miss Teen USA pageant held at the Imperial Ballroom of the Atlantis Paradise Island, in the Bahamas on July 24, 2010, where she ended up as the fourth runner-up.

Haley is a graduate from Mississippi State University. She is a cheerleader for the Tennessee Titans, alongside Miss TN USA 2015 Kiara Young. At the same event was crowned Mississippi’s representative for the Miss Teen USA Pageant, Lauren Rymer.
Mississippi has not been very successful at the Miss USA pageant, with only 10 placements. They have never won the Miss USA Crown, and their highest placement was in 2008, when Leah Laviano became the first runner-up.
