Initially cited as a fake threat, Philippines officials have been forced to take it more seriously. The Filipino Muslim population, in recent years, has been increasingly supporting ISIS. That is another big concern for the government.

The pageant would be held in the capital city of Manila, though no official confirmation has come from the Miss Universe organization.

The only official confirmation of the threats came from the office of the Superintendent of Police.
