JKN Global Group, under the leadership of Anne Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip, has officially announced the acquisition of Miss Universe organization from IMG. JKN Global Group is a world-renowned commerce conglomerate.
The official press conference was held on Thursday, 27th October 2022 at the JKN Empire Building in Thailand. The announcement was made to reveal the details of the new MUO ownership. This makes Anne the first woman and non-US citizen to own the entire MUO.
She quoted, "JKN is extremely honored to acquire the copyright and business of Miss Universe. Working with a management team with a great vision to reach people around the world as well as foster strong relationships between business partners and world-class brands. To continue the value of the MISS UNIVERSE brand.”
Miss Universe Organization CEO Amy Emmerich, who attended the conference with MUO President Paula Shugart virtually, said, “I am excited to be working with JKN to create the growth of the Miss Universe Organization to the next level and strongly believe that our relationship with global partners and brands will be strengthened with this steadfast move forward. This will allow the Miss Universe Organization to maintain its value and sustainable growth at the forefront of the industry. I would like to thank IMG for giving us the opportunity to build a solid foundation for the Miss Universe brand and organization.”
The details were for one, Thailand will be hosting Miss Universe at least every two years, Project Runway Thailand mentor Tawn Chatchavalvong will be joining the organization as Creative Director. Also, another tagline ‘One Universe’ was introduced, a possible new reality show highlighting the competitors' journey to the crown, another headquarters in Thailand apart from New York and the launch of MU Lifestyle — a specialized business unit for the production and distribution of copyrighted products. Also, a new crown by Mouawad will be introduced by January.
A special event will also be held this November in Thailand with the MUO executives, reigning Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu and former titleholders to celebrate the new ownership.
