Reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was mentored by ex-beauty queen who is like a sister to Pia. Undoubtedly, that was the biggest advantages Pia had over the other contestants. And we are talking about Filipino model, TV Presenter and the first runner up in Miss Universe 2012, Janine Tugonon . She gave her the insights and so many tips on what goes on in the Miss Universe pageant.
Aces and Queens pageant coach and fashion designer Bessie Besana has confirmed the buzz.
Besana said that when Wurtzbach asked him about the ins-and-outs of the pageant, he advised her to ask people with first hand experience.

While implementing on Janine’s advices, Pia Alonzo, who bagged the crowning glory of Miss Universe 2015, proved to be indispensable.
“She asked Janine Tugonon,” Besana said, “And Janine gave her a blow-by-blow account.”
Janine Tugonon gave Pia all the insights on what to anticipate - from shoe fitting to how the gala night goes.
Her advice prepared Wurtzbach psychologically and allowed her to somehow breeze through the pageant.
Besana and Mercator Artist and Model Management Inc. president Jonas Gaffud were in agreement that the candidates should go through a meticulous training for the Binibining Pilipinas pageant, which will make the international pageant feel easier.
After winning the crown, Wurtzbach and Tugonon had a get-together in San Francisco, where Janine is currently pursuing a modelling career.
