02 Jan 2020 | Priya Bhardwaj

With all the excitement bouncing around the newest edition of Miss Universe Philippines which has cut its branch from Binibining Pilipinas Organization, the pageant fanatics and Filipino fans have begun their predictions and wish-lists to get their favourite diva to participate in the first edition of the national pageant. Miss Universe Philippines 2020, for sure, will be a mega event in Philippines this year with all the changes in the organization.

With a lot of excitement and hope, we also hope this one certain Filipina joins this national pageant. Katarina Rodriguez Miss World Philippines 2018 for sure can be a strong contender for the crown. While Catriona Gray switched from Miss World to Miss Universe and went on to win the crown, it is not a difficult thing for Katarina to follow in her footsteps.

Katarina is 27 years of age, so this will be her last try in pageantry and how good would it be to see her finish with success. Born in Orlando, Florida, Katarina spent her entire childhood going back and forth from USA and Philippines. She is a Filipino-American MTV VJ, athlete and model. In the pageant world, Katarina rose to fame in 2014 as she placed third in the second season of Asia’s Next Top Model.

After that, the stunning beauty was crowned Miss Intercontinental Philippines 2017 at the conclusion of Binibining Pilipinas 2017 as she went on to represent Philippines in Miss Intercontinental 2017. Katarina also placed as the first runner-up at Miss Intercontinental 2017. Next year, she went on to represent her country in Miss World 2018 as she was crowned Miss World Philippines 2018. Unfortunately, the Filipina failed to place in the Top at the international competition. Having two national titles tucked under her belt, the built-up to next major pageant is what the fanatics are wishing for.

While Katarina may not be saying it directly, she has been leaving hints about the possibility of extending her colourful pageant career to the fullest. She also focuses majority of her time on her advocacy which is being a Peace Hero for Teach Peace Build Peace Movement and a Children’s Right Activist (and Ambassador) for Save The Children.

We sure want her to be a part of Miss Universe Philippines 2020. What are your views?
