With Caris Tiivel being crowned as the Miss Universe Australia 2016, everyone must be waiting with bated breath to know more about the familiar looking beauty. Wait, did we say FAMILIAR looking? Oh Yes, doesn’t she remind you of someone? Can you think of that someone? Yes, yes, yes... you got it right. Caris Tiivel has a striking resemblance to one of the Victoria’s Secret Angels Miranda Kerr.

Caris with her dimpled smile and long brown waves is being compared to the gorgeous model. It’s like looking at a twin sister, and the social media is flooded with pictures comparing the two. Hailing from Perth, Caris defeated stunning Aussie beauties to clinch the prestigious title of Miss Universe Australia 2016.

The Perth model also won the Miss West Coast title in April 2016. She was the first to accept the award since 1985. She left behind 23 contestants and claimed the title, which originated in 1967. Tiivel is the first WA contestant to win the title in four years, following in the footsteps of 2012’s Miss Universe Australia Renae Ayris.

After finishing her High School, Tiivel worked and travelled as a full-time model for a few years. She likes to spend time with her family and friends, and going to the beach in the summer, visiting local cafes and reading books are her favourite pastime. She decided to enter the Miss Universe Australia pageant because she thought it would be a great platform to become a role model to others. In a statement, Tiivel said that the Miss Universe Australia 2016 contest helped her overcome anxiety and depression.

“I’m someone who has suffered from anxiety and depression in the past, and a lot of people think if you are always smiling, you are happy all the time. There is nothing wrong with you,” she said as quoted by the Herald Sun.

“But that’s the stigma that comes with depression. A lot of people don’t know when someone is suffering. I would really like to support a cause like that and provide some assistance to people who are going through a tough time.”

Looks Australia is going to give a tough competition to other countries this year at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant scheduled to be held on 30th January 2017 in Philippines.
