The magnificent finale of Miss Gibraltar 2017 pageant is scheduled to be held on 8th July 2017, and a total of 9 finalists are vying for the title this year. The 9 finalists will go through a series of Preliminary Competitions, to clinch the coveted crown of Miss Gibraltar 2017. Let us give you an insight to all the finalists. The next contender is Kylie Lavagna.

24 year old Kylie is the Customer Service Assistant by profession. One of Kylie’s main hobbies is reading. She also enjoys cooking, and by cooking we don’t just mean following the recipe, but understanding the history and culture of different kind of cuisines. She speaks fluent English and Spanish. It is her ambition to explore her career in the banking industry.

A perfect day according to Kylie is a day spent with family and friends at one of our beautiful local beaches. She describes her country Gibraltar as safe and multicultural community. Talking about her motivation behind entering the pageant, Kylie says, “My main reason for participating in this pageant is to develop and boost my self-esteem and self-confidence. Also to create long lasting memories, widen my horizon and establish new opportunities for myself.”

Kylie reveals why she wants to win Miss Gibraltar and says, “It has always been a dream of mine to participate in the Miss Gibraltar Pageant, I have also wanted to take part in charity work. I have in the past thought about travelling and helping out in different countries but never knew how to go about it. What better way than entering Miss Gibraltar where charity work is one of the main components in the pageant!”

Miss Gibraltar pageant is produced by Santos Productions for the Ministry of Culture at the Alameda Open Air Theatre. The first ever Miss Gibraltar contest was organised by the Vox Newspaper. Won by Viola Abudarham, the first election of Miss Gibraltar took place at a dance organised at the CFCA hall situated at the southern end of Main Street. One of the shocking facts is that the first Miss Gibraltar was married at the time she won the crown. It was only after the pageant was resumed in 1964, the rules were modified.
