Leah Lawson crowned Miss South Carolina USA 2016

Leah Lawson, the reigning Mountain Lakes, was crowned Miss South Carolina USA 2016 by the departing queen, Sarah Weishuhn, Miss South Carolina USA 2015 at the conclusion of the pageant, held on November 21, 2015 at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. She will have the opportunity to represent her state at the 2016 Miss USA Pageant where she hopes to be crowned by the reigning Miss USA Olivia Jordan from Oklahoma. Miss Aiken County USA, Megan Gordon was adjudged as 1st runner-up, Miss Boiling Springs USA, Caitlin Russel was titled as 2nd runner-up, Miss Golden Corner USA, Tori Sizemore was announced as 3rd runner-up and Miss North Augusta USA, Katie Mode was declared as 4th runner-up. Marley Stokes, the reigning Miss Golden Corner Teen USA, was crowned as Miss South Carolina Teen USA 2016 by the outgoing queen, Wesley Mitchell.

Other special awards like Miss Congeniality was grabbed by Rachael Huber, Miss Photogenic was bagged by Leah Lawson and Best in Swimsuit went to the gorgeous, Tori Sizemore. Completing the semi-finalists spot were, Mae Ann Webb, Emily Sapier, Melissa Turbeville, Morgan Brown, Jordyn Fox, Karson Terrell, Lindsey Lambrakos, Liza Walker, Courtney Cox and Neicey Baxter.

Leah Lawson is a Pre-Med Student, a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, and a dynamic member in the Student Union Board at Presbyterian College. Leah is a Presbyterian College and Laurens District 55 High School graduate and believes in bringing back the crown to her home turf while she competes at the 2016 edition of Miss USA. She is a Laurens Idol participant and winner of Upstate Idol. Leah’s immaculate achievements also shine in the fact that she advanced through several preliminaries of American Idol. Besides having a beautiful face, Leah owns a magnetic and syrupy voice!

South Carolina has won the Miss USA Pageant in 1994, 1980 and 1954. Miriam Stevenson, South Carolina’s first Miss USA, and the United States’ first Miss Universe was also the first Miss USA winner to have competed at Miss America.
