Hailing from the city of mist and mountains, Jinotega, María Alejandra Alfaro is one of the 15 finalists of Miss Mundo Nicaragua 2016. She is a third year student of marketing and advertising at the American University UAM.

The 19-years-old says she loves her city; “What I enjoy the most is having my morning coffee with donuts in a delightful climate, that gives me immense happiness.”, she said. Her city, Jinotega is known as a famous tourist spot. She describes herself as a young, cheerful and sociable girl who loves eating chocolate. Being an only child of her parents, she is the most pampered and darling member of her family.

“I live with my mother and grandmother and the things that I enjoy doing is, spending my time talking to them, I have a strong bonding with my mother, above all I consider her as my best friend. She is a strong woman, being a single parent, she struggled a lot and has always worked hard to confer the best lifestyle to me.” She explained.

On her parents divorce, she says- “My parents are divorced and despite the circumstances, my mother’s love and affection for me has never failed.”

María says that she has always dreamed of being the representative of her city, Jinotega in a national beauty competition.

It wasn’t so easy for her to take part in this beauty pageant as one year ago, she had a disease that made her gain too much weight. However, with treatment and her strong will power, she got her normal figure back.   

Alfaro is a social activist in an Oncology Children Hospital Mascot called “Mission La Mascota USA”. She spends every Thursday to give love and joy to the children of the hospital where she conducts activities like making piñatas, playing games etc. that makes them happy.

We believe this contestant holds the brighter chance of making it to the finals of Miss Mundo Nicaragua and also to the coveted crown. What do you think???
