Miss Nederland 2016 (also known as Miss Netherlands 2016) is on the road to the finale and moving towards the prestigious crown with twelve stunning finalists. The winners of Miss Nederland 2016 will represent Nederland at the Miss World 2016 and Miss Universe 2016 pageant.

The Miss Nederland 2015 winners are Jessica Jazz Vuijk (Miss Universe Netherlands 2015) and Margot Hanekamp (Miss World Netherlands 2015). At the conclusion of the finale of Miss Netherlands 2016, the reigning queens will pass on their crown and reign to their successors.

Prior to 1991, the national pageant was known as Miss Holland, and Netherlands made its debut at Miss Universe in 1956. Since 1991, the pageant became known as Miss Netherlands, and in 2009 a new pageant system was founded as Miss Universe Nederland, with Kim Kötter (Miss Netherlands 2002) as the president. As the pageant also acquired the national franchise for Miss World in the same year, the name was changed to Miss Nederland.

This year a total of 12 finalists will finally be vying for the prestigious title of Miss Nederland 2016, after being narrowed down from 15 finalists. During an event held at the Marble Stella Maris Hotel, the 15 finalists were narrowed down to 12. The 12 stunning finalists of Miss Nederland 2016 are -

Netherlands has had a decent run at the Miss World pageant, and has won two back to back Miss World crowns in the year 1959 and 1962 under the representation of Corine Rottschäfer and Catharina Lodders respectively. The country has won one Miss Universe crown in 1989 under the representation of Angela Visser. Netherland’s last placement at Miss Universe pageant was in the year 2014, when Yasmin Verheijen made to the Top 5 of Miss Universe 2014 pageant.
