Nia Imani Franklin was crowned Miss America 2019 on 9th September 2018 and ever since her reign began, she seems to be a fresh wave of positive energy and beautiful smiles. The newly crowned Miss America queen also is onboard with the organization’s decision to scrap off the swimsuit round from the competition.

This year’s edition of Miss America competition was also special because it was the first pageant since the Miss America board decided to bring key changes to the pageant. Nia Imani was quite happy with the decision of not wearing a swimsuit as she commented, “I'm happy that I didn't have to do so to win this title tonight because I'm more than just that. Not just me, all the women who competed by my side are more than just a swimsuit they'd wear during that portion of the competition.”

The move from being a pageant into a competition is also appreciated by the beauty queen. She commented, “These changes, I think, will be great for our organization. I’ve already seen so many young women reaching out to me personally as Miss New York asking how they can get involved because I think they feel more empowered that they don’t have to do things such as walk in a swimsuit for a scholarship.”

The outgoing Miss America 2018 Cara Mund also said that she hoped the next Miss America would have a very different experience than she did. As Miss America is a scholarship pageant, there is no doubt that these beauty queens have a forward moving approach to the changes made in the competition. However as the decision was made, there are still a few people who seem to be apprehensive of the situation.
