24 Jan 2022 | Angelique Reyes

Kelsey Johnson was appointed as Miss Charm Canada 2021 and was confirmed to represent Canada at Miss Charm International 2021. Although representing Canada internationally had always been a dream for the diva but she has now decided to step away from pageantry to focus her efforts on education and career goals.

Kelsey recently took to her social media to announce the same as she shared how throughout her childhood she was constantly bullied for being herself, taunted for her height, curly hair and slender appearance. She also added how she struggled to stay positive and ignore those who told her she would never be successful.

At 18 years of age I decided to step out of my comfort zone and enter my first pageant (Miss Teen Canada-World) to build my strength, make a difference in the lives of the others, and become a voice for those who went through similar experiences,” she added.

Nearly two years ago, Kelsey brought this same platform of self-love and acceptance to the Miss Universe Canada 2020 stage, where she was placed in Top 10 and was later awarded the title of Miss Charm Canada. Johnson was expected to compete in Vietnam in October 2021, but unfortunately, the pandemic had other plans and the pageant was moved to April 2022.

She also went on to share how despite the circumstances, she continued to use the time that she was given with her title to give back to her community and reflect on her future goals and aspirations. She also acknowledged both the Miss Universe Canada and Miss Charm organization for their support and encouragement.

Following her reign, Kelsey went on to acquire a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree from McMaster University, where she excelled at Political Science and Health Studies. She later obtained a Postgraduate degree in Public Relations from Humber College. Her next step is to complete her MBA in Aviation Management. As a content marketing specialist for a Dubai-based university and social media mentor for Intelak Hub, Kelsey is currently supporting Dubai’s leadership in aviation, travel, and tourism.
