When Katherine Espin almost gave up on her dream of becoming a beauty queen

Becoming a beauty queen is almost every girl’s dream. Who wouldn’t want to enjoy the limelight, who wouldn’t want to grace the crown and adorn the sash?? But there are times when people do give up on their dreams during difficult times. A similar thing happened to our very own Miss Earth 2016 Katherine Espin.

Yes, the gorgeous and stunning Katherine Espin who has the powerful aura of owning the crown that she has won, once gave up on her dream of becoming a beauty queen. Shocking? Well, yes, it was shocking for us as well. During one of her recent interviews on "Tonight with Boy Abunda", the beauty queen revealed the shocking reality of her life.

Katherine shared her story and said, "When I was around 15 years old, I faced facial paralysis and I thought I may never be able to become a beauty queen and model." Katherine added that she had to go through intensive treatment to “get her face back.” The beauty further added, "After that, I started studying law. And that's when people started asking me to join this pageant, join that. I don't even know how I got to a certain place when I was winning. Sometimes I lost, but you know, that's part of it."

With her dedication and determination, Espin was finally successful in achieving her dreams and was finally crowned as Miss Earth 2016. Espin won the crown on 29th October 2016 and her advocacy aims at encouraging people o adapt eco-friendly practices. The beauty previously shared that she really poured her heart into winning the Miss Earth pageant and probably that’s what made her win the coveted title defeating 85 aspirants.

Recently, Miss Earth 2016 Katherine Espin, Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong and Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell came together for a Leo Almodal photoshoot. Katherine has also been appointed as the ambassador of the Philippines Department of Tourism by the Honorable Secretary of Tourism Ms. Tulfo Heart Wanda Teo. Katherine will now be responsible in promoting Eco Tourism around the country.
