Every year, the international pageants are getting tougher to crack, also every year more and more contestants are coming out strong (even from the weaker sashes). Hence, this year the countries are making efforts to bring the necessary changes to meet the requirements of the international pageants.

One such pageant is Miss Suomi pageant of Finland. Miss Suomi (also known as Miss Finland) is the annual national beauty pageant of Finland responsible for selecting Finland's representatives for three of the Big 4 international pageants, being Miss World, Universe & Miss International. According to reports, the pageant is coming up with a lot of changes this year. The pageant claims about introducing a more international status, which reportedly will help Finland achieve a level on international pageants.

Usually the pageant takes place in the month of May, but this year the contest will select the finalists in the month of August, and the finals will be held in the month of September. Although he finalists will be announced in the month of August, the organisation will start its search from May 2017. The semi-finalists of Miss Finland will go through a week-long training, through which the girls will gain more self-confidence and improve on their presentation skills.

Finland has always lacked the self confidence in their delegates, and that is why the organisation this year is coming up more sessions where the contestants can boost up their confidence level. According to reports, the selection process has so far been pretty fast.

Finland has till date won two Miss Universe, one Miss World and one Miss International title. Armi Kuusela of Finland won the first ever edition of Miss Universe held on June 28' 1952. She was just 17 when she was crowned Miss Universe 1952. Finland won its second Miss Universe title after a gap of 23 years, when 19-years old Anne Marie Pohtamo was crowned Miss Universe 1975 on July 19' 1975. This was the last Miss Universe title won by Finland till date.
