The Belize Tourism Board has recently announced that it has named the recently crowned Miss Earth 2021 Destiny Wagner has its new Sustainable Tourism Ambassador. The board made the announcement during the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Association of Protected Areas Management Organizations, working towards strengthening cooperation in the sustainable development of the country’s protected areas.
The board stated, "The BTB is pleased to have her join the industry as an advocate for such an important form of tourism and look forward wholeheartedly to working with her." Destiny is an environmental advocate who has previously shared her will to bring ‘Sustainability of marine life and conservation of our natural resources’ to awareness during her reign.
Sharing her appointment as an ambassador of the cause she wrote, “Excited to announce that I will be working alongside Belize Tourism Board to promote Eco tourism and protect our natural resources! Thank you Ministry of Tourism for making this possible and I look forward to working closely with you throughout the year to highlight and amplify the voices of nonprofits who continuously fight for a better Belize and a better planet.”
Previously on being asked what she would do to promote Ecotourism and Climate Change, she suggested, “Take public transportation, carpool, ride a bike to help reduce Carbon Footprints. Limit our single-use plastic, and purchase locally. As far as climate change, we may think that we have a small impact on earth, but we can cause a ripple effect. For instance, we can invest our money responsibly and shop at sustainable companies we can reduce the amount of energy that we use at our house by unplugging appliances, plant you own backyard garden to help you eat fresh.”
25 years-old Destiny Wagner is a graduate with BA in Business Administration from Pace University, New York. She is a TV series host, influencer, brand ambassador and a print and commercial mode. She is also an accomplished poet and an author of two books. Ever since the diva brought home the first Big4 international beauty pageants win for Belize, she has been making the country proud with each passing day.
