22 Oct 2020 | Angelique Reyes

The 20th edition of Miss Earth, i.e., Miss Earth 2020 is going to be held on 29th November 2020 and for the first time in history, Miss Earth will crown their new titleholder with a virtual coronation night due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The winner will succeed Miss Earth 2019 Nellys Pimentel of Puerto Rico for the title.

The country of Netherlands has been represented by a few of the strong, talented, and extremely hard-working divas who with their efforts and sheer determination have been able to place at high positions at the competition since 2017. With Miss Earth Netherlands 2020 Tessa le Conge’s appointment, the organization is hopeful for a win this year but, let’s look at the previous representatives of the country who not only performed exceptionally well but secured high placements as well.

Miss Earth Netherlands 2017 Faith Landman

Faith is a spontaneous, energetic, and humorous woman who believes that participating in a beauty pageant is more than the outer beauty but it is especially about your inner, commitment and near military discipline. Her advocacy was to sweep oceans clean and save marine life from the millions of tons of plastic that is polluting the seas along with creating awareness and helping the new life into reefs that were poisoned by urban and industrial waste. She takes her participation at Miss Earth 2017 as a learning experience and hopes to keep inspiring others till she can. With her exceptional performance, Faith was placed at the Top 8 at the end of the event finale.

Miss Earth Netherlands 2020 Tessa Le Conge

Tessa was appointed as the new representative of the country and is very proud that she was chosen by the organization to represent the country especially during such times. She cares a lot about helping companies get greener. Now she is busy with a project of replacing all coffee cups for eco bamboo cups at the company she works for. Her advocacy is about shifting our culture in a way that benefits climate action and nature with COVID-19’s influence. Tessa aspires to build a green economy by sharing ideas that could help in building regenerative cultures once the economy starts up again for example, connecting more, traveling less and home gardening. In times like these with the ongoing pandemic she thinks it’s more relevant than ever to show that we as a community can transform from this crisis, with new compassion and change of bad ecological habits. “From our losses, there will be scars, but from our experience there may be new cultures that define a healthier greener earth. I believe I have the strength to guide people through that transformation, sharing knowledge and love for our mother earth,” she explains.
