The Binibining Pilipinas Organisation recently announced the 40 finalists of 2017 who will be competing for the coveted title. The 40 shortlisted finalists will now compete through various levels and rounds to clinch the title and earn the honour to represent the Philippines at the Miss Universe 2017 pageant.

While fans are now all set to place their bets on their favourites, and the country waits to find out who will be the next Binibining Pilipinas, there is one aspirant who is disappointed with the results. Miss Earth Philippines 2012 Stephany Stefanowitz, who was contesting for the title of Binibining Pilipinas 2017, was filtered out of the list of finalists, and this didn’t go well with Stephany.
Binibini hopeful Stephany has been ruled "ineligible" from the competition due to overage. The age requirement to qualify for the Binibining Pilipinas pageant is that the Applicant should be between 17 to 26 years of age at the time of the pageant. Stephany is 27 years old and will be turning 28th in October. Miss Earth-Air 2012 Stephany Stefanowitz took to her facebook to express her disappointment after being axed out of the final 40 candidates for Binibining Pilipinas 2017.

Under the management of WME/IMG, Miss Universe Organization has increased the age limit of contestants from 27 to 28.

According to news report by Mario Dumaual of TV Patrol, the 54th edition of the Binibining Pilipinas pageant will be about cracking the tough round of questions and answers with conviction. This has been done to keep up with the new Miss Universe format.
