Miss France organization, through the official social media, announced that Miss France 2022 first runner-up Floriane Bascou will be representing France at the upcoming edition of Miss Universe 2022. Miss Universe 2022 will be held on 14th January 2022 in New Orleans, USA where Harnaaz Sandhu of India will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
Cindy Fabre, the director of the National Miss France contest, also quoted, “For several years our national representatives have succeeded in demonstrating that France is one of the countries most represented in the finalists of international competitions. We are delighted with the participation of Floriane Bascou who will represent France in the Miss Universe competition next January as well as Clémence Botino in the Miss World competition. They will perfectly embody the values ??of the Miss France competition internationally. We wish them to fully live this adventure and we will support them throughout their journey”.
Floriane Bascou is 20 years of age and hails from Le Lamentin, a city in the French overseas department and region of Martinique. She is a graduate of a scientific baccalaureate specializing in life and earth sciences. Floriane is currently pursuing studies in preparatory health with a law option and aims of becoming an orthodontist in the future.
Being interested in the medical field from an early age, Floriane wants to be able to help and contribute to the well-being of others. Prior to competing at Miss France 2022, she was crowned Miss Martinique 2021 during the state competition held last year. She is now the first-ever Miss Martinique in history to represent France at the Miss Universe pageant.
The decision was made after Diane Leyre, the reigning Miss France, decided not to compete at Miss Universe. "Unfortunately, I will not be able to participate in the Miss Universe contest due to lack of time and preparation a few weeks before my Miss France title presentation, next December. I do not like to do things by halves when it comes to to represent France internationally and the choice of my first runner-up, Floriane Bascou, was obvious to live this great adventure. I am sure that she will shine and I will support her like all French people during her journey”, she quoted.
