The Miss Grand Cambodia organization hosted the coronation for Miss Grand Cambodia 2021 yesterday, where gorgeous divas from all over the country competed for the national crown and a spot representing Cambodia at Miss Grand International 2021. Sothida Pokimtheng was crowned as the new queen at the end of the event as she succeed Miss Grand Cambodia 2020 Chily Tevy for the title. Chily represented Cambodia at Miss Grand International 2020 and was one of the first contestants to enter the Top 20 at the competition.
The Battambang beauty standing 175 cm tall held off strong challenges from the other contestants to claim the crown after struggling for the past six years and never giving up on her dream of the crown. The diva shared, “Finally, the day I struggled for 6 years was successful. The crown on my head confirms the struggle and do not think to give up this path, especially the strength of parents, siblings and fans together.”
Apart from the title, Sothida also placed as the runner-up for Best in Swimsuit award. Not new to pageantry, 23 years-old Sothida was crowned as the fourth runner-up of Miss City Tourism World 2017 and later in 2019 she was also crowned as Miss Asia-Pacific International Cambodia.

Second runner-up - Kunthong Em of Preah Sihanoukville
Third runner-up - Keo Senglyhour of Kampot Province
Fourth runner-up - Sok Ratcharakorn of Kampong Chhnang Province
As she promised to use this honor and position to make her country proud, she also mentioned, “For me, Miss Grand International and Miss Grand Cambodia is not just a show of beauty, but a platform. Enabling us and all women to show respect, love, kindness, and our beautiful souls in eradicating violence and war, we know that today in Cambodia we continue to perpetrate abuses. With the violence against many women and children, it hurt my feelings, I was sad, I was in pain, my tears flowed every time I read their story. Right now Myanmar is at war, many people are suffering, losing their jobs, losing their loved ones, breaking up their families. “I stand to not only win the crown, but I want you all to believe in me and stand up for peace, happiness, for the world to be a beautiful place and a bright future for the next generation of young people. To humanity. Thank you,” she added explaining why she joined the program.
Sothida Pokimtheng will represent Cambodia at the upcoming Miss Grand International 2021. The 9th edition of the pageant is all scheduled to take place on 4th December 2021 in the beautiful and exotic city Phuket. The organization will become the first to host two editions of the pageant within the same year. Over 70 delegates from all over the world will be competing in the competition to fight for the coveted crown. Miss Grand International 2020 Abena Appiah of USA will crown her successor at the end of the event.
