Who will represent Philippines at Miss Grand International 2020?

03 Feb 2021 | Priya Bhardwaj

Binibining Pilipinas 2020 is all set to be held on 17th April 2021 which holds the right to crown the representative of Philippines at Miss Grand International. However, the 2020 edition of Miss Grand International is scheduled to take place in March 2021 and thus everyone is already expecting that Bb. Pilipinas Grand International 2019 Aya Abesamis will carry the Philippine colors in Thailand next month.

Aya Abesamis has been steadily preparing with her team despite no confirmations being given, even as early as the time of The Miss Globe last November 2020 when BPCI opted out of sending any of its titleholder.

However, there are rumors surrounding the age limit of the international pageant in which Aya doesn’t qualify because she is 28 and turning 29 this year. Thus, Aya, unfortunately, might not get a chance to represent Philippines at Miss Grand International 2020.

Now, if Aya does not get a chance to represent Philippines, there are talks that Samantha Mae Bernardo who was Bb. Pilipinas 2019 runner-up could be the next Miss Grand Philippines to represent Philippines at the 2020 edition. But for that, Samantha will need to resign as Binibini 13 of the current edition before she can officially become Miss Grand Philippines.

While there has been no official confirmation from the official confirmation, it will be interesting to see how these rumors will compare to any announcements between this week and next.
