Miss Great Britain 2021 Meet the Judges

15 Sep 2021 | Camilla Suarez

The Miss Great Britain organization is all set to host the national finals for the year 2021 in Leicester City, on 17th September 2021, where finalists from all over the country will compete for the crown and title of Miss Great Britain 2021. The winner will succeed Miss Great Britain 2020 Jen Atkin of Grimsby.

The organization has recently announced the jury panel for the pageant, who will take on the difficult and prestigious job of selecting the new queen among the batch of stunning women who are competing for the national title and an opportunity to represent the country at the Miss Tourism World 2021 pageant.

So, without any further ado, here are the esteemed judges of Miss Great Britain 2021 –

Sally-Ann Fawcett (Head Judge)

A lifelong pageant fan, she competed in many contests herself in the 1980s including heats of Miss United Kingdom and Miss England. Over the past four years she has had four books about the beauty queen world published - the Misdemeanours trilogy and, last year, a history of the Miss Great Britain pageant itself, to commemorate its 75 years and its status as the country's longest-running beauty pageant.

Talking about being back as the head judge, Sally said, "If someone had told me as a little girl watching Miss Great Britain on the television back in the 70s that, all these years later, I would be Head Judge for the very same pageant, I'd never have believed it. My dream to judge such a respected, prestigious and historical contest has come true, and tonight I consider myself unbelievably honoured to make the dreams of three amazing women come true, too."

Georgette Culley

Culley has been a journalist for over ten years - specialising in real- life relationship features, currently working as the Sex and Relationship Editor for The Sun. Throughout her career, she has covered dozens of stories about beauty pageants – including the iconic Miss World contest, so she was thrilled to be invited as a guest judge for the competition.

She says, "I love the glamour of the competition and am looking forward to meeting all the contestants. Although it is a beauty pageant, what I always find fascinating is listening to the back stories of the contestants, some of whom have overcome adversity or setbacks in their determination to get to the final. Or others, who have taken a side-step from their careers to enter.”

Ms Great Britain 2020/21 April Banbury

April was the first ever winner of the Ms Great Britain title taking the crown back in February 2020. She was a reality TV star of ITV2’s -The Cabins. April is a bridal and occasion wear designer, having shown her collections twice at London Fashion Week as Britain’s Top Designer finalist.

She is the ambassador for S.E.E.D Lancashire offering help, support and guidance to those who suffer from eating and mental health disorders. She is also the ambassador for anti-bullying charity Bullies Out. April is a keen aviation fan and is also the Ambassador for AeroSparx where she is working towards her very own pilots licence.

Miss Great Britain 2020/21 Jen Atkin

Jen Atkin was crowned Miss Great Britain 2020 at the 75th anniversary of the pageant in February 2020. Regardless of spending the majority of her reign in a worldwide pandemic, Jen has had an incredibly successful year, hitting national and international headlines with her inspirational 8 stone weight loss story.

Since winning, Jen has been on TV shows such as Good Morning Britain, Steph’s Packed Lunch and even USA Hit show ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’. She is also a country singer and is releasing her second single ‘Perfect Ends’ later this month.

Tom Hui

The organization welcomed Tom as a guest judge for the competition. Tom Hui is the Marketing Executive of Dukes The Palm, a Royal Hideaway Hotel in Dubai, one of our wonderful prize sponsors. Tom is responsible for social media management, social influencer collaboration, and sponsorship.

As an MBA holder from Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management and Master’s in Management achiever from Lund University in Sweden, he is an advocate of gender equality and sustainable tourism. He believes that Miss Great Britain is a platform to empower females by discovering their talents and potentials.

Last year, Miss Great Britain Jen Atkin’s title reign which was originally for 2020 was extended due to the global pandemic. Jen had been working unbelievably hard and was keen to promote a healthy lifestyle. This year she will crown her successor as Miss Great Britain 2021 who will then move on to represent Great Britain at the next edition of Miss Tourism World.
