Miss Universe Singapore 2020 Bernadette Belle Ong will crown her successor at the end of the event.

Aspiring delegates from all over the country are all set to compete for the national crown and the opportunity to represent the country at the 70th Miss Universe pageant. This year’s batch of finalists consists of stunning, talented, and strong women competing against each other for the coveted crown, but some of these divas have stood out in our opinion as the top contenders for the title.

So, without any further ado, here are our Top 4 hot picks for Miss Universe Singapore 2021 –

Serena Jane McNeill

21 years-old Serena holds a Diploma in Accounting from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. She is a professional model and is passionate about mindful consumption, and humane treatment of animals. As an animal lover, she has been on a vegan diet for 4 years, and has volunteered at the SPCA as well as Pink Dot.?

Born to a Singaporean Malay mother and Caucasian dad, the diva considers empathy one of her strengths, and joins this year’s Miss Universe Singapore 2021 with the goal of spreading kindness in all areas.

Lila Tan

Lila Tan is 18 years-old and is half- Singaporean Chinese and half-French. She is a football player on the Singapore National Team with several Most Valuable Player football awards. She previously lived in Shanghai before returning to Singapore and is fluent in English, Mandarin and French.?

Lila joined the pageant to be an inspiration to the other girls to feel empowered and be comfortable in their own bodies. Understanding the struggles of body dysmorphia, she overcomes this by eating healthily and actively participating in sports.

Cate Lin Loo

A 19 year-old passionate advocate for equal access to healthcare, Cate Lin decided to take matters into her own hands and pursue her path in medicine after learning about a rare genetic disorder, a protein C deficiency, which her mother suffered from. She is medical student currently on a gap year to pursue her passions. She was previously a competitive rhythmic gymnast who has won a gold and silver medals in the Team and Hoop events respectively.

She might be new to pageantry but she comes from a family of titleholders. Her mother was Miss World Singapore 1994 and her sister was a finalist in the Miss Universe Singapore 2018 competition. She definitely has it in her bloodline and comes across as a strong defender of the legacy.

Rachel Jumeidi Alexander

Rachel Jumeidi is a 21 year-old biochemistry student and an athlete for more than 10 years now, and actively competing for 7 years. She also holds the title of Captain of the King's College London (KCL) swim team, and has been on KCL's performance water polo team for a year. She considers herself resilient having lived in many different places when she was younger; the most interesting of which is Turkmenistan. ?

She adds the title of Senior Young Musician of the Year 2017 alongside Swimmer of the Year 2018, and in her journey to being Miss Universe Singapore 2021, she would like to empower women by creating a supportive and safe environment.

Bernadette’s delegation in the last edition of Miss Universe, earlier this year, was highly appreciated even though she was unplaced.  The image of Bernadettes’s statement making national-costume is still fresh in our minds, she made a bold social statement with her dress flaunting the words “Stop Asian Hate”. Advocating a stop to hate crimes, to bring attention to the social or political cause.

The winner who will be crowned Miss Universe Singapore this year must understand the values and responsibilities of the title. The Miss Universe Singapore platform is focused on showcasing what it means to be an empowered Singapore woman in this modern day and age - someone who is diverse and inclusive in her perspective, sophisticated, intelligent and a leader in her respective field.
