Courtney Mandock was crowned Miss Intercontinental Canada 2019 at the coronation night of Miss World Canada 2019 held on 27th July 2019 and represented Canada at Miss Intercontinental 2019 on 20th December 2019 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. She was appreciated for her performance at the competition but unfortunately wasn’t placed at the end of the event finale. The diva has recently celebrated her one year of crowning as Miss Intercontinental Canada 2019 by sharing throwback pictures from her crowning moments.

Courtney participated in her first ever beauty pageant in Miss Teen Manitoba World 2012 and to her luck she was crowned at the end of the event finale. After winning, she mentioned, "At that time, I didn’t even know we had pageants in Canada. I won the title of Miss Teen Manitoba World and went on to compete at nationals. The previous winner was in engineering and she got high marks in school. Since then, I’ve been hooked. I love it.”

Mandock is also a graduate in mechanical engineering program from the University of Manitoba and is currently employed full-time in the aerospace industry. The diva has dealt with her share of depression and anxiety, and now uses her power of speech and platform to speak about her struggles. For Courtney, beauty pageants represent more than the typical stereotypes that often come to one’s mind. She challenges stereotypes herself as a woman working in mechanical engineering and as a mental health advocate.

On completing her one year as Miss Intercontinental 2019, she shared on her social media that she was terrified to compete again at Miss World Canada 2019 as she had already competed in 5 pageants out of which 3 were national pageants but was only placed at the Top 15 at the end. She later competed in Miss World Canada 2017 where she was not placed even though she felt that she was ready, she wasn’t. She took some time off beauty pageants and focused on her education until last year when she decided to let her worries go and enrolled for Miss World Canada 2019 and with her dedication, hard work and resilience, she was crowned Miss Intercontinental Canada 2019 and got a chance to represent Canada at international stage. She stated that she was not focused on winning the title but just creating a platform where she feels comfortable and welcomed. She didn’t want any regrets for future and that’s why she focused only on performing her best at the competition which eventually helped her win the crown.

The diva strives to smash stereotypes through her platform that she calls ‘Refractions of a Reality’, or ROAR. "I went to the pageant with the intention of being true to myself and really embodying Refractions of a Reality, which is a breaking stereotypes initiative. It’s an online community platform where I share stories of how stereotypes have affected me, but I also ask others to contribute their stories as well," she said. A quote by Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Adichie “The problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete. They make one truth, the only truth,” is the one Courtney lives by.

In both her career and her personal life, Mandock follows her dreams and doesn’t let labels define her. She shares the message across the world through her social media account and aspires everyone to share her experiences, talk with others, and help society to see how detrimental stereotypes can give one courage to break the stereotypes. She explains that one must be determined and focused with their goals no matter what if they want to achieve their dreams and goals.

Lastly, she shared, “I am so proud to be Miss Intercontinental Canada 2019 and for the opportunity to represent Canada internationally in Egypt at Miss Intercontinental 2019.” She also mentioned that during her reign she has always tried to be real and true to herself living by the platform she has created. She thanked Miss World Canada organization for believing and trusting her with the title and with few more months with the title, she can't wait to go out in the community again, and continue to share her ROAR.

We wish her with all the success and love for future.
