Ireland gets ready to crown its next queen

Miss Donegal, Lauren McDonagh, emerged triumphant in a field of 28 contestants to be crowned as Miss Ireland 2017 at a ceremony in Dublin. Now it’s time for the beauty queen to pass over her crown to a successor, who would fulfill her duties as well as McDonagh did. Miss Ireland has opened its registrations and is now accepting applications from the aspirants of Miss Ireland 2018 crown.

Miss Ireland is one of the World’s longest running beauty pageants established in 1947, it has been the launch pad for many well-known successful, empowering women in Ireland. The winner of Miss Ireland represents her Country at the prestigious Miss World and in 2003 Rosanna Davison won the title of Miss World. The competition has not only been nurturing for the overall winners of the coveted crown but also for finalists, who have taken part in the competiton, who credit Miss Ireland in helping building their confidence, self-esteem, interview &  media skills, all elements which they have gone on to use in their chosen professional careers.

The website lays down clear qualification criteria for the competition.

According to the website:

The entrant shall have attained the age of 17 years on or before the 1st  of  Feb 2018 and shall not have attained the age of 28 years on 1st of September 2018

Has never been through a marriage ceremony, valid or invalid, whether Civil, Religious or Tribal which is recognized as a ceremony in any part of the world.

Has never given birth to a child.

Usually used the prefix “Miss” or equivalent before her name.

Shall be of good character and possession of charm, poise, personality and have beauty of face and figure.

Shall be a person whose background is not likely to bring into disrepute the Miss Ireland Contest, Miss World Contest, its titles or its organizers.

The entrant shall be a person born in or is a naturalized citizen of Ireland

Holds a valid Irish passport

Shall not have participated in any International Beauty contest in 2017

Undertakes to sign the Miss Ireland contract if elected Miss Ireland 2018

If the entrant is registered with a model  / booking agency and should she win the Miss Ireland 2018 title she will come under Management of the Miss Ireland office and agrees to be placed with an agency / booking agency of their choice.
